Welcome to everyone who is new to The Hero's Voice, our e-newsletter devoted to highlighting heroic stories in everyday business. These stories explore the concepts outlined in our strategic brand process, The Hero's Quest, which shows you how to become a hero to your members or customers.

Ever read a book you just couldn't put down? Well here's one for the recommended "heroes and villains" reading list: Soon I Will Be Invincible, by Austin Grossman. It's an engaging novel that gives a fresh perspective on the concepts of power, glory, and responsibility.

Told from the perspectives of Doctor Impossible -- evil genius and the world's foremost supervillain -- and Fatale -- rookie on the superhero team assembled to stop him -- the novel highlights the fine line between good and evil. For instance, in talking about believing in your cause, Dr. Impossible states:

"When you threaten to crash an asteroid into your own planet just so they'll give you a billion dollars or substitute your face on the Mona Lisa, there's no statute of limitations. So you have to have the courage of your convictions."

He also discusses that you should have a nemesis, and an obsession. But one could argue that's the basis for success in any company, too.

On the superhero side, Fatale deals with feeling like an imposter on a team of overachievers, and the difficulty of fitting in successfully:

"A superteam needs certain things, the right mix of personalities, an unpredictable battlefield alchemy, a thing no one can predict, or duplicate."

Does your superteam possess these qualities? If not, what's missing?

In the end, good and evil battle each other. I won't ruin the book by telling you who wins, but I will leave you with this one passage that stood out for me, and is worth considering from both a personal and company perspective:

"If you had one single chance to get everything you ever wanted, to succeed, to win, what would happen? Would you make it, or would you go down in flames? Which kind of person are you?"

Happy hero reading!
